Tracking Unit and Search Warrants in Indiana

In January, NICB Agent received information indicating a stolen, 2019, Caterpillar, 289D Skid Steer was located at an address in Indiana.  The suspected stolen skid steer was equipped with a GPS tracking unit and indicating it to be located at this address. The agent notified our law enforcement partners with the Indiana State Police Auto Theft Section, who responded to the address and observed the skid steer partially concealed on the property. Investigators applied for and received a search warrant for the property to determine the legal status of the suspected stolen skid steer.  A search warrant was granted and executed resulting in the inspection and recovery of the stolen skid steer.  An amended search warrant was then obtained for further inspection of vehicles and specialized equipment located on the property.  As a result of additional inspections, a stolen competition dirt-bike motorcycle, a Ford, F450 and two commercial woodchippers were recovered.  This investigation is still ongoing with the Indiana State Police and criminal charges are forthcoming against one individual.
