On April 19, 2020, a 2017 Ferrari Spider was stopped by Mexican federal police while entering Mexico through the Tijuana Port of Entry. The driver did not have documentation for the Ferrari. The Ferrari was initially seized as contraband entering Mexico and the driver was detained. The Ferrari was reported stolen on April 19, 2020 to a local police department in the US indicating that the date of theft was April 18, 2020. Security surveillance videos indicated the suspect appeared to be the same person believed to have stolen the Ferrari from outside the owner's residence. After many legal hurdles, the Ferrari was finally repatriated back to the U.S. on August 28, 2020.
