The NICB assisted law enforcement with an ongoing investigation into alleged human smuggling and possible insurance fraud. A man reported his vehicles as stolen, but it was discovered that the vehicles had been seized at the United States border. Investigation indicated that the man reportedly rented his vehicles to individuals involved in a human smuggling ring. The man recently pled guilty to wire fraud in US District Court, Western District of Texas, and was sentenced to three years of probation for each count, to run concurrently.
