ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Jacqueline Mason, 56, of Columbia, South Carolina, has been charged with one count of insurance fraud.
On April 28th, 2021, Ms. Mason claimed a slip and fall injury occurred while shopping at a Winn-Dixie in Brunswick, Georgia. She reported in a written statement to the store that she fell “directly on my knee forward,” and subsequently filed a lawsuit against Winn-Dixie for $50,000.
“In surveillance video provided by Winn-Dixie, Ms. Mason is seen discovering a substance on the grocery store floor, bracing herself against a shelf, spreading the substance around with her foot, and then lowering herself slowly down to the floor” said Commissioner King. “Due to the clear contradiction between Ms. Mason’s statement and the surveillance footage, Ms. Mason is being charged with knowingly and willingly committing insurance fraud.”
Warrants were taken out against Ms. Mason in Glynn County on August 18th for Insurance Fraud. She is still wanted at this time.
