Pharmacist alleges she was fired for not filling illegal prescriptions

HOUSTON — A pharmacist alleges she was fired for refusing to fill illegal prescriptions and refusing to commit insurance fraud.

Muna Al-Dahan filed a complaint Nov. 18 in Harris County District Court against Parkview Pharmacy Inc., doing business as Amex Pharmacy No. 5 and Avinash Isaac Shivshank alleging wrongful discharge and other claims.

According to her complaint, the plaintiff is a board-certified pharmacist and began working at the Amex Pharmacy on Bellaire Road in June of 2009. She claims that after a change in ownership, the pharmacy began to unlawfully fill prescriptions for controlled substances.
