Ohio Chop Shop

In 2014 NICB was requested to assist in a joint investigation with the Ohio BCI and Ohio EPA. A suspected family run chop shop had been discovered after several half-empty fuel tanks and other hazardous waste were found by EPA investigators and fire departments. NICB along with Columbus Police and Ohio State troopers identified chopped vehicle parts and cloned vehicles, identified member company vehicle loss claims, and assisted at several search warrant locations. The ringleader was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison and ordered to pay $549,627.52 in restitution to thirteen (13) member companies. His wife was sentenced on 09/11/2020 to 36 months in federal prison.
