Thirty vehicles were etched with unique identifiers in Philadelphia, PA

NICB agents in the Mid-Atlantic Region participated with community partners at four Catalytic Converter Etching Events in May. SA C. Scherer and SA K. Hutt attended events in Virginia and SA A. Quintile attended in the Roxborough area of Philadelphia, PA.

SA Sherer and SA Hutt participated in two events in Virginia on May 6, 2023. Sponsored by the Newport News Police Department and the Chesapeake Police Department these events drew over 150 residents. Auto theft prevention material and catalytic converter theft prevention materials were provided by the Virginia State Police and the NICB. In Newport News the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association was on hand to assist and in Chesapeake AAA partnered with the NICB to distribute educational materials to citizens.

The NICB also partnered with the Philadelphia Police, Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, and the Pennsylvania Auto Crime Investigator’s Association (PACIA) to host a catalytic converter labeling/ etching event at Dr. Ralph’s Auto Services Center.  The Catalytic Converter labels were donated by the Pennsylvania Auto theft Prevention Authority and Dr. Ralph’s Automotive Services Center donated their facility vehicle lifts and several mechanics to support this event.  Each vehicle owner received anti-theft device, the Club, donated by the NICB.
