NICB Agents received information from MO police indicating a contractor had accepted payment from a member insurance company on multiple claims and did not complete any of the agreed upon repairs. NICB Agent reached out to the member company and secured two claim files where allegedly repairs were not completed. The claim files and inspections of the loss sites by NICB Agents confirmed work was not completed and the contractor appeared to have cashed payments totaling more than $20,000. The claim files were summarized, and an investigative presentation given to local PD. The detective with local PD followed up by conducting multiple interviews of victims and securing financial records that along with the claim files which supported insurance fraud may have occurred. The target of the investigation was charged on one insurance claim with stealing over $750 and on another insurance claim with financial exploitation of the elderly.
