ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Wesley Lionel Stevens, Jr., 45, of Zephyrhills, Florida, has been charged with insurance fraud and forgery.
“These charges stem from 17 individual claims submitted to the suspect’s insurance company for fabricated medical services between April and July of 2019,” said Commissioner King. “The claims included fraudulent medical invoices and physician notes from Atlanta area hospitals and doctors, resulting in nearly $85,000 in benefits from the insurer.”
This investigation uncovered evidence that Mr. Stevens used a fraudulent address in Atlanta to take out the insurance policy and proceeded to change addresses several times across a number of states. Warrants were taken out against the suspect on May 26th in Muscogee County for 18 counts of Insurance Fraud and 16 counts of Forgery in the 1st Degree. He remains at large as of this time.
