Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire, August 31, 2022
ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Stacy Hughlett, 39, of Fayetteville, has been charged with insurance fraud and forgery.
In July of 2021, Ms. Hughlett was involved in a collision when she was struck by another vehicle. She then filed a claim through Progressive Insurance. However, the documents she submitted were suspected to be falsified.
“After reviewing Ms. Hughlett’s claim, our criminal investigators determined that her documentation was fraudulent, and she did not receive the medical treatment she claimed,” said Commissioner King. “This type of fraud raises insurance costs for all Georgians, and I am proud of the work of our investigators to close this case.”
Warrants were taken out against Ms. Hughlett in Fayette County on August 30th for one count of Insurance Fraud and three counts of Forgery in the 1st degree. She is still wanted at this time.
