NICB assistance was requested by a member company regarding a suspicious loss claim involving a diamond from a ring. NICB assisted with research into the ring which showed two previous lost ring claims with other member companies and it appeared that the ring in the claim is the same ring reported as lost the year before in a different claim, in which the insureds were paid out $14,700, purportedly rendering the previous claim as fraudulent along with the present claim. The insured was charged with Insurance Fraud and Conspiracy to Commit Insurance Fraud.
