Community Alert: Unlicensed Contractor Operation

Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, May 10, 2023

Pasco Sheriff’s Office’s Economic Crimes unit recently conducted an unlicensed contractor operation in which businesses and individuals were found to be conducting contractor work without the proper licensing. This crime is dangerous, placing citizens at potential risk for poor quality work and noncompliance with building codes. In addition, property owners become liable for any injuries, have limited resources in the event of a broken contract and may become the victim of scams.

PSO would like to thank Pasco County, Department of Financial Services and Department of Business and Professional Regulation for helping keep our citizens safe. Below is a list of individuals and businesses found operating without the proper licensing from our recent operation. We’re including this information for our citizens’ awareness in the event they have used these businesses or individuals for work.

If you believe you may be a victim of an unlicensed contractor, call the Pasco Sheriff’s Non-Emergency Line at 727-847-8102, option 7 to report it. If you believe someone may be conducting contracting work without the proper licensing, call the Pasco Sheriff’s Crime Tips Line at 1-800-706-2488, or report tips online at PascoSheriff.com/tips.

To help ensure the safety of our citizens, PSO has included a few tips to help you from becoming a victim of contractor fraud. First, ask for licenses and confirm a contractor’s references before agreeing on a project. You should never feel pressured into a contract or work with which you’re not comfortable. It’s also good to obtain several written estimates before you start any work and wait until the job is complete before providing full payment.
