NICB Agents Participate in Arson Training in Texas
The North Texas Fire Marshals Association hosted its 2020 conference at Great Wolf Lodge, Grapevine, Texas, on February 4–6.
The North Texas Fire Marshals Conference is an industry-leading, three-day training event for fire and life safety professionals, community educators, emergency management personnel, code enforcement officials, and others involved in community risk reduction efforts and initiatives.
This year’s conference also provided off-site training at the Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport Fire Training Center. NICB Special Agents James Vignali & Mark Collins and Tarrant Regional Auto Crimes Task Force Investigators John Buesing and Howard Johnson assisted state fire marshals with the training, conducting a hands-on training course using burned vehicles.
With the growing complexity of today’s vehicles, fire/arson investigators need specialized knowledge to accurately investigate and determine the origin and cause of vehicle fires.
The students in attendance were taught multiple protocols to assist them when challenged with the need to identify burned vehicles when traditional public/visible vehicle identifiers are unavailable.
