The U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) held a news conference on Oct. 10, 2012, regarding counterfeit air bags.
During it, NHTSA warned the public about a major concern involving the purchase and installation of a significant number of potentially faulty air bags by independent repair shops around the country.
The news release is here and includes a list of vehicle models affected. NHTSA also released a test video of the potential dangers of these counterfeit air bags. Visit www.SaferCar.gov for additional information.
